7 Days of Purposeful Prayer Introduction

Introduction

I am asking for our church to pray more intently for this nation. It is in a very obvious state of turmoil and that cannot be ascribed to one person issue, or group. We are in a spiritual condition  that calls Christians to intercede. I believe when God calls us to pray and we decide to pray together, we have great power to change the direction of the nation. We all know the following scripture as just that call to prayer.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

Christians should neither ignore nor despair, because our God is great and so our impact can be mighty, not for our agenda but for God's will. We come into unity as we all draw close to God. Most people cannot imagine a world in unity but as a Christian I know that it is not only possible but commended by God. As such, we need to each put effort into praying, speaking, and working toward unity in our lives, in our relationships and in our nation.

Why pray?

I believe one of the main the reasons we pray is to bring peace and hope to the world. Not just for us, but for the people around us who may have little of either. That takes focus, effort, and unity. Join us with the heart for the world around us not just us.

Matthew 5:8-9 (KJV) Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

How to pray?

We have been given guidance how to pray because God wants us to do it confidently, and consistently. Prayer is one of those things that you prefect by doing it. Not only do we learn from one another, but we inspire one another as we do it together.

Philippians 4:6 (NASB) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

What to pray for?

This is where a "prayer theme" comes from. We agree to an area of prayer so that we can be in unity about it, and we can have a greater impact praying together. Add to that the direction we get from scripture about the topic, and we can pray fervently at any and all times.

In this season, lets pray for peace, unity, and healing for the heart of America. Be willing to consider one another and bless one another so our country can prosper and remain free.

Believe that the body of Christ can align itself with God's will and thereby come into unity. Notice, the agenda must be the Lord's will in order to do so. We all need to lay down our own agenda's and take on the mission of God for peoples, nations, and this world. Only then can we pray powerfully enough to see all of it change. Only then will our prayers be magnified and empowered for the pulling down of strongholds.

Here are seven things that I have found that we can all pray over America, and this is the source of this 7-day devotional. Each day we will touch a topic below and apply it to our nation together.

  1. God rules over all of mankind

  2. Everything has a spiritual origin, everything is spiritual

  3. Prayer in unity is a powerful weapon

  4. God loves and will save anyone

  5. Every solution we need comes from God

  6. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are God's ideas

  7. God has made all our lives to matter
