7 Days of Purposeful Prayer (Day 2)

Day 2: July 2, 2024

Theme: All things have a spiritual origin

Scripture: Hebrews 11:3 (NASB) By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

I woke up early this morning and could hear God talking to me. It reminded me that what I see is not all there is. In fact, as Christians, the things that matter the most are spiritual things. That should make us spend time in spiritual endeavors knowing that these (spiritual) things bring great(er) results. Imagine if you began to realize that you have power to change what you see, especially when what you can see is disturbing? You do!

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KJV) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

This is why being reminded each day that all things are spiritual in nature and we have been given power over the spiritual things, does a few things for our hearts.

  1. we stop being spectators and we take action against what is evil

  2. we wake up charged up and ready to do something (spiritual) about injustice

  3. we trust God and refuse to have strife with the people in our lives (they are not the issue)

  4. we lean on God to give us wisdom about what we see in the natural

Prayer in Action:

Here are some things we can pray for together.

  1. we ask God to reveal to us what is underneath what we see

  2. we take up God's perspectives on everything we see

  3. we work together to build our understanding both naturally and spiritually

  4. we allow our passions to be ruled by God, not our flesh

Prayer in Unity:

"Heavenly Father we come to you today to understand what we are looking at in the natural in ways that reveal the spiritual. Open our spiritual eyes so we may comprehend the works of evil and the power of our prayers to defeat it. If we have passions, we lend them to you so that YOU can guide them and you have control of them. As we calm our spirits, let us see you better and follow you today as we pray.

Lord, we pray a blessing on this nation, not because it is perfect but because you are. Have mercy on our iniquities as a nation and as people. Let proper judgement begin in our hearts and let us admonish others as we chasten ourselves to follow you better. Let us bless and not curse, and allow our eyes to be opened to see. "
