And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. Luke 19:13-14

This has been a very divisive election season and nothing is harder to find right now, than some peace!

All you need to do is bring up the name of one of the candidates in this election and you can see why peace is so hard to find. They are both a bit hard to handle, and people are polarized on each side. Each side is so convinced that they are right that some are willing to fight. That would not be such a bad thing, if we were not fighting one another. This is supposed to be one nation, so are battles should not be with one another. If we cannot find peace between us, someone else will take the ground we are on.

Anyone who tries to lead a group of people knows that it is sometimes very hard to make peace among them. Every one of them wants their own way, is convinced they are right, and convinced that other opinions do not matter as much as theirs does. Honestly, we often demean one another and place our own needs above a need for unity or even what is the best option all of us. This is why scripture calls people who are "peace-makers", blessed. The fact is we need more people who refuse to become offended and demeaning toward others, in order for us all to prosper.

Making peace among people is hard work. It gets emotional, people become offended, but leaders still need to lead us in order to live safely or to make progress. Peace is not something you "fall into", it is something you "forge" based upon the right principles. When a military organization takes ground it must make peace. It brings stability to the land, so the people can prosper. Peace is the environment that we want to live in, but someone has to decide to make it work.

This is why God said; "blessed are the peace-makers" because few people decide to work at building bridges, subduing offences, and consistently leading us toward the light of righteousness. It is easier to become offended, than it is to resist offence. For the believe, this is not as much of a battle because we have been given the ability to decide. Decide today whether you will be the person who can and will MAKE peace when it is needed. God promises that you will be blessed!

Our Confession in Prayer!

Join us in the following prayer of unity under God:

"Dear Lord, help me to be a force for peace among the brethren. Help me to embrace your heart for forgiveness, love, appreciation, and kindness among my Christian brothers and sisters. Help me to resist the temptation to become offended, hold a grudge, or believe the worst. As I walk with you, may peace in my heart allow me to bring peace to the lives of others while I continue to guide them toward the light of Christ. 

Lord, I expect that what I do in secret in my own heart will bring rewards in the lives of others, as I model and hold true to the walk of Jesus Christ, in all things!"
